Back on track on the city streets with a newly extended route, the Trams offer a unique experience combining history and sightseeing.
Enjoy a journey in style through the changing face of Christchurch’s city centre on board our beautifully restored heritage Trams, one of Christchurch’s leading attractions,
Our friendly and knowledgeable drivers will inform you about the city, its landmarks and local sights. Your day-long ticket allows you to get on and off the Tram as often as you please!
The journey takes you to the appropriate stops for Punting on the Avon, and the Caterpillar Tour of the Christchurch Botanic Gardens.
Cathedral Junction, Avon River, Re:START Mall, Gothic-style Arts Centre, the Canterbury Museum and New Regent Street are just some of sights to be seen from the comfort of your Tram, or accessed from the 17 stops en route.
The journey begins at Cathedral Junction and travels through Cathedral Square before passing the Avon river, Re:START Mall and High Street on our newly-opened track extension. From here the tram rejoins our tram loop and passes the Canterbury Museum, Hagley Park, Victoria Square and New Regent Street. There are currently 17 stops along the route.
Our Tramway Restaurant departs daily at 7:00pm from Cathedral Junction. Bookings essential.

Christchurch Gondola
The Base station of the Gondola is nestled in Heathcote Valley where you will find plenty of parking for cars and coaches. The Summit Station – including the Time Tunnel, Shop and café – is at the top of Mt Cavendish. The Gondola trip up to the summit takes 10 minutes one way at normal speed. We stop each cable car at the summit and base to allow you to get on or off. The cableway spans 862 horizontal metres and our Gondola cabins are very stable and comfortable, offering spectacular 360° views.
Gondola Restaurant
Our Gondola Restaurant will be opening for lunches from December 2015! With a delicious new menu and amazing vistas, it is fantastic spot to enjoy a meal with a view.
The Gondola Restaurant will be open from 11:30am until 2:30pm during weekends.
Please note that we may have to close on occasion due to private functions. Please call the Gondola for any questions.
